Kalamansi Collective has teamed up with Seafood City and the Apl.de.Ap Foundation for a limited-edition piece, originally created for the Bebot Challenge in Toronto.

When Bebot comes on, Filipinos know exactly what to do. We know the words, we know the references, and when “FILIPINO” hits, we chant it together. And of course, you can’t forget “’Yung kanin, chicken adobo,” a lyric that turned something so familiar to Filipinos into one of the song’s most iconic lines. This piece brings it all together: loud, proud, nostalgic and unmistakably Filipino.

The brownish-purple hue draws inspiration from “Pero masaya pa rin ang kulay,” a lyric that speaks to pride in our colour and the skin we’re in. Bebot has always celebrated being Filipino, and this piece carries that same pride forward.
